Currently a wide range of health programmes and activities are availalbe for Travellers of all ages from 4+. The Traveller outreach worker is also involved in delivering cultural awareness training to staff in the Royal group of Hospitals. We have produced a Directory of Health services for Travellers and this is updated on an annual basis. An annual Health fair takes place which is supported by a wide range of health providers. This popular event aims to build relationships between Travellers and health providers and to support Travellers to increase their access to public health services.
Current health programmes are the Community Pharmacy Lay Health project, Literacy, Personal Development and Fun and Fitness for young women. Health initiatives are also in place for children, teenagers and men and we are currently supporting the development of a new local Sure Start initiative to attract additional support for families of 0-3 year old children.
